Focus View

The Focus View lists actionable tasks.

It's the most useful feature that Jatabag offers, an essential aspect which makes it unique.

Whether a task is in Focus is determined by 2 things: Subtasks, and Traits.

Subtasks

Subtasks are "child, component tasks" of a larger task, and are denoted by indentation.

You can see how tasks come in and out of focus naturally, by reviewing Task Trees.

Traits

Traits affect the Focus View in a variety of unique ways, often in ways that work symbiotically.

The first trait you should try is Last Completed, which removes a task from Focus once it is complete.

Each trait is different, so check out what traits are available!

Note that a task's Focus can be affected by the traits set on a different task, such as Blocked By.

Categories

You can convert a task into a category (and vice versa).

Categories organize related work without becoming "doable" tasks themselves.

Consider that "Groceries" may be better suited as a category to create subtasks in, rather than catchall task (although a catchall would also be fine!).

The biggest reason to toggle categories is to group those subtasks in your Focus View:

- Cook dinner
  # Get groceries
    - Apples
    - Oranges
    - Bread

Categories will subtly affect many aspects of the app:

• Categories are highlighted
• Pinning and dripping tasks pins and drips the whole category.
• The Focus View can sort categories separately from tasks.
• The Focus View can collapse a category down to one task at a time (with arrows to step through the rest), so that you can hone focus and feel less daunted.
• Categories don't typically count towards task counts (like for the Due trait).
